Terms of Service
Effective Date: March 19, 2026
Welcome to The Law Mind. These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of The Law Mind website, applications, and services (collectively, the "Service"). By accessing or using the Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
1. Nature of the Service
The Law Mind is an AI-assisted legal research library and information retrieval service. Its function is to help users locate, read, understand, organize, summarize, and analyze publicly available legal materials drawn from a collection of state and federal legal materials.
Access to legal information is not the practice of law. The Law Mind operates as a research library — not a law firm, not a legal services provider, and not a substitute for the independent judgment of a licensed attorney who has reviewed your specific facts and jurisdiction. Use of the Service does not create an attorney-client relationship between you and The Law Mind or its operators.
2. No Legal Advice
The Service may provide summaries, explanations, citations, comparisons, issue spotting, document analysis, and research assistance. These outputs are provided for informational and educational purposes only.
You acknowledge and agree that:
- Outputs may be incomplete, inaccurate, outdated, or wrong.
- Legal rules vary by jurisdiction, by the specific facts of each situation, and over time.
- You will independently verify all information with primary sources before relying on it.
- You will consult a licensed attorney when legal advice, representation, or action is needed.
- You will not represent any output of the Service as legal advice or as the work product of a licensed attorney.
3. AI-Generated Output and Hallucination Risk
The Service uses generative artificial intelligence. AI-generated outputs may contain fabricated, invented, or confidently incorrect information — a phenomenon commonly known as "hallucination." This includes but is not limited to nonexistent cases, fabricated citations, inaccurate statutory references, invented legal doctrines, or misattributed quotations.
You acknowledge and agree that:
- AI-generated citations, case names, statutory references, and legal conclusions must be independently verified against primary sources before any reliance.
- You will not submit any AI-generated content to any court, tribunal, regulatory body, or opposing party without thorough independent verification by a qualified legal professional.
- The Law Mind makes no guarantee that any output is legally correct, complete, current, or fit for any particular purpose.
4. Eligibility
You must be at least 18 years of age to use the Service. By creating an account, you represent and warrant that you are 18 or older. You must provide accurate account information and keep your login credentials secure.
5. Acceptable Use
You agree not to use the Service to: violate any applicable law or regulation; infringe or misappropriate another party's rights; upload malicious code or interfere with the Service; use automated scripts or bots to query the Service at scale without authorization; impersonate an attorney, law firm, court, or government body; or fabricate, forge, or misrepresent any legal document using Service outputs.
6. User Content
You retain ownership of content you submit. You grant The Law Mind a limited, non-exclusive right to host, process, transmit, and analyze your content solely to operate, maintain, secure, and improve the Service, subject to the Privacy Policy.
7. Data Privacy and No Model Training
The Law Mind does not use your queries, prompts, uploaded documents, conversation history, or any other User Content to train, fine-tune, or develop artificial intelligence models. Your research activity is your business, not our training data. See our Privacy Policy for full details.
8. Intellectual Property
The Law Mind service, branding, software, design, AI system prompts, and proprietary content are owned by or licensed to The Law Mind. Subject to these Terms and your compliance with them, you own the outputs generated from your inputs to the extent permitted by applicable law.
9. Billing and Subscriptions
If you purchase a paid plan, you agree to pay the applicable fees and any taxes. Subscriptions renew automatically unless canceled before the renewal date. Fees are non-refundable except where required by law.
10. Disclaimers
THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE." TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, THE LAW MIND DISCLAIMS ALL WARRANTIES, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, NON-INFRINGEMENT, ACCURACY, RELIABILITY, AND COMPLETENESS.
11. Limitation of Liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, THE LAW MIND WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE. TOTAL AGGREGATE LIABILITY WILL NOT EXCEED THE AMOUNT YOU PAID IN THE TWELVE MONTHS PRECEDING THE CLAIM, OR $100, WHICHEVER IS GREATER.
12. Dispute Resolution
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Minnesota. Any disputes shall be resolved by binding arbitration in Minneapolis, Minnesota. You waive any right to participate in a class action.
13. Changes to Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. For material changes, we will provide notice through the Service. Continued use constitutes acceptance.
