The Court finds that counsel is often seeking orders for treatment for defendants that have not followed the proper detention facility protocols for obtaining treatment. Therefore, the Court will require all defendants consult with the detention center and if necessary the United States Marshals service regarding treatment for medical (including medication not discussed below), dental, and vision issues before filing a motion to receive these services. All motions for medical (including medication not discussed below), dental , and vision services shall have a statement of defendant's attempts to receive these services through the proper channels and a statement that counsel has conferred with Jason Griess of the U.S. Marshals Service prior to filing the motion. Any motion failing to set forth these procedures will be denied for failure to follow this Order. Requests for mental health treatment and mental health medication are excluded from this order and counsel may file motions for mental health evaluations and mental health medications without following the above stated procedures. IT IS ORDERED that all pretrial detainees in all facilities shall follow the above stated procedures before filing a motion for medical (including medication not discussed below), dental or vision care. Failure to follow the procedures will result in an automatic denial of the motion, unless there are exceptional circumstances. IT IS FURTHER ORDERED that requests for mental health treatment and mental health medication are exempt from these requirements and counsel may file motions for mental health treatment and mental health medication without following the above stated procedures.
