Pursuant to 28 U.S.C. § 636(f), in an emergency and upon the concurrence
9
of the chief judges of the districts involved, a United States magistrate judge may
10
be temporarily assigned to perform any of the duties specified in subsections (a),
11
(b), or (c) of this section in a judicial district other than the judicial district for
12
which he or she has been appointed.
13
Due to an emergency resulting from the unavailability of currently serving
14
judges, the Western District of Washington certifies the need for magistrate judge
15
assistance in the conduct of a settlement conference from the Eastern District of
16
Washington.

Therefore,

IT IS ORDERED, with the concurrence of the Honorable Stanley A.
19
Bastian, Chief United States District Judge of the Eastern District of Washington,
20
United States Magistrate Judge Alexander C. Ekstrom is hereby designated to hold
GENERAL ORDER NO. ~ 1
1 court and perform any and all judicial duties designated under 28 U.S.C. § 636,
2 subsections (a), (b), and (c), in the in the Western District of Washington
3 beginning on Friday, January 12, 2024, to preside over a settlement conference in
4 Case No. 17-cv-751-SAB.
