(a) Settlement Negotiations. Parties in a civil action must make good-faith efforts to
settle. Settlement negotiations must begin at the earliest possible time, well in advance of
any pretrial conference.
(b) Settlement Conferences. A judge will be available for settlement discussions. In
nonjury cases the presiding judge will not discuss settlement figures unless requested to do
so by all concerned parties.
