In 2002, the Court agreed to hang judicial portraits in Cleveland in the Carl B. Stokes
United States Court House on the curved wall of the seventh floor facing the low-rise
elevators.
There being no further space available on this wall, it was agreed at the October 2,
2023 regular Judges’ Meeting that future judicial portraits in Cleveland will be placed in
the hallway outside of the courtroom where the judge presides or presided in either the
Carl B. Stokes United States Court House or the Howard M. Metzenbaum United States
Courthouse. If a judge presided in more than one courtroom during the judge’s service,
the judge may select at which of those locations the judge’s portrait will be placed.
