2026 COMMITTEE NOTE
Both the Eastern and Southern Districts have long permitted law students to appear on
behalf of parties in certain cases and subject to certain strict requirements, including
supervision by an attorney and written consent of the relevant party. This rule is
intended to codify and regulate this practice.
