1 2 UNITED STATES DISTRICT COURT 3 DISTRICT OF NEVADA 4 5 IN RE: VACATING REVISED 6 VACCINATION POLICY FOR EMPLOYEES GENERAL ORDER 2022-03 VACATING FIRST AMENDED 7 AND EXTERNS IN RESPONSE TO THE TEMPORARY GENERAL ORDER COVID-19 PANDEMIC 2022-01 8 9 The Court has issued a series of general orders changing how the Court operates 10 to do its part in containing the spread of COVID-19.1 In furtherance of those efforts, on 11 February 10, 2022, the Court adopted, and later amended, a Vaccination Policy for 12 employees and externs in response to the COVID-19 pandemic (“the Policy”) as part of 13 the Court’s gradual transition to living with COVID-19 and resuming normal court 14 operations. See General Order 2022-01. Since then, the Court has incrementally 15 resumed in-person proceedings and expanded jury trials, and recently suspended the 16 face covering requirement for in-person court proceedings. See General Order 2022- 17 02. Nevada Governor Steve Sisolak also recently announced his intention to end the 18 State of Emergency related to the COVID-19 pandemic on May 20, 2022.2 Thus, by all 19 indications, society and the Court are transitioning to living with COVID-19 from treating 20 it as an emergency. Accordingly, the Court vacates the Policy and the accompanying 21 General Order 2022-01. 22 /// 23 1See, e.g., General Orders 2020-02, 2020-03, 2020-04, 2020-05 (available at 24 https://www.nvd.uscourts.gov/court-information/rules-and-orders/general-orders/). 25 2Nevada Governor Steve Sisolak, Governor Sisolak announces intention to end COVID-19 State of Emergency (May 6, 2022), https://gov.nv.gov/News/Press/2022/2022- 26 05-06 COVID19StateOfEmergency/. 27 1 That said, COVID-19 continues to circulate in the community, and vaccines 2 remain effective against it.3 The Court continues to encourage all employees and 3 externs to get vaccinated against COVID-19 and stay up-to-date on their vaccinations. 4 It is therefore ordered that General Order 2022-01, First Amended General Order 5 2022-01, and the Policy are vacated. 6 This Order is effective from this 16th Day of May 2022 until further notice. 7 8 9 MIRANDA M.
