WHEREAS, Magistrate Judge Maarten Vermaat has found that the following cases,
involving claims of unlawful debt collection methods by Portfolio Recovery Associates LLC, are
cognate to each other and to other pending cases assigned to Judge Jonker and Magistrate Judge
Vermaat, see W. D. Mich. LCivR. 3.3.2(c):
Amie Hinton v. Portfolio Recovery Associates, L.L.C., Case No. 1:15-cv-00398-JTN;
Cheryl Hatfield v. Portfolio Recovery Associates, LLC, Case No. 1:16-cv-01369-JTN;
Robert R. Vsetula v. Portfolio Recovery Associates, LLC, Case No. 1:17-cv-00043-JTN;
Angie M. Richards v. Portfolio Recovery Associates, LLC, Case No. 1:17-cv-00045-JTN;
WHEREAS Magistrate Judge Vermaat has recommended that these cases be reassigned to
Judge Robert J. Jonker, who was assigned to the earliest-filed of these cases;
WHEREAS the affected judges have consented to the reassignment and the Court being
mindful of the need for the exercise of judicial economy;
WHEREAS the undersigned has concluded that the above-referenced cases should be
reassigned;
IT IS HEREBY ORDERED that the Clerk of Court shall reassign the above-listed cases
to Judge Jonker under the approved procedure.
Further,
WHEREAS, to promote judicial efficiencies, Magistrate Judge Vermaat has recommended
that he be assigned to the cases involving claims of unlawful debt collection methods by Portfolio
Recovery Associates LLC;
WHEREAS the undersigned has concluded that Magistrate Judge Vermaat should be
assigned to these cases assigned to Judge Jonker;
IT IS FURTHER ORDERED that the Clerk of Court shall reassign the following cases
to Magistrate Judge Vermaat under the approved procedure:
Amie Hinton v. Portfolio Recovery Associates, L.L.C., Case No. 1:15-cv-00398;
Cheryl Hatfield v. Portfolio Recovery Associates, LLC, Case No. 1:16-cv-01369;
Robert R. Vsetula v. Portfolio Recovery Associates, LLC, Case No. 1:17-cv-00043;
Angie M. Richards v. Portfolio Recovery Associates, LLC, Case No. 1:17-cv-00045;
Kevin Vance v. Portfolio Recovery Associates, LLC, Case No. 1:17-cv-00110;
Timothy S. Bowyer v. Portfolio Recovery Associates, LLC, Case No. 1:17-cv-00179; and
Faron Peacock v. Portfolio Recovery Associates, LLC, Case No. 1:17-cv-00667.
IT IS FURTHER ORDERED that a copy of this Administrative Order shall be filed in
each of the above-listed cases, as well as the additional cognate case Alisa Baker v. Portfolio
Recovery Associates, L.L.C., et al., Case No. 2:12-cv-00409-RJJ-MV.
