WHEREAS Magistrate Judge Sally J. Berens has determined that Case No. 1:25-cv-1543-
HYJ-MV, Cooper v. Midyett, et al., is a cognate case under W.D. Mich. LCivR 3.3.2(c) to Case
No. 1:25-cv-1043-HYJ-SJB, Cooper v. Midyett, et al.;
WHEREAS the earlier-filed case is assigned to Magistrate Judge Berens, however, the
referral judge on the later-filed case is assigned to Magistrate Judge Maarten Vermaat;
WHEREAS Magistrate Judges Vermaat and Berens have consented to the reassignment
of referral in the later-filed case;
IT IS ORDERED that, in the interests of judicial economy and to conserve judicial
resources, the referral judge in Case No. 1:25-cv-1543 shall be REASSIGNED to Magistrate
Judge Berens, according to the approved procedure.
IT IS FURTHER ORDERED that another case shall be assigned to Magistrate Judge
Vermaat, according to the approved procedure.
A copy of this Administrative Order shall be filed in each case referenced herein.
