Effective January 1, 2024, the United States District Court for the Western District of
Michigan is establishing maximum rates for contract court reporter services. This initiative was
undertaken to ensure fair compensation for the valuable services provided.
Unlike court interpreting services, there are no Judicial Conference-established rates for
contract court reporters. Therefore, the determination of rates is left to the discretion of the court,
guided by local market research that has been diligently conducted.
NOW THEREFORE, below are the maximum contract court reporter rates established by
this Court:
Full day - $450
Half day - $225
Overtime - $60 per hour
