ADMINISTRATIVE ORDER
Rule 6(a) oftl1e Electronic Filing Policies and Procedures requires that civil initiating
papers be filed electronically,
CM/ECF does not currently allow a new civil case or civil initiating papers to be
immediately sealed when filed electronically.
In addition, sealing a new civil case or civil initiating papers cannot be done until the
assigned judge has decided the motion requesting the sealing;
NOW THEREFORE IT IS ORDERED THAT filing users wishing to electronically file
a new civil case or civil initiating papers under seal must contact the CM/ECF Help Desk
at 313-234-5042 before filing the case or the papers.
IT IS FURTHER ORDERED THAT when a party files a motion to seal a new civil
case or civil initiating papers the Clerk is directed to "shield" the new civil case or civil
initiating papers from public view until the assigned judge has decided the motion
requesting the sealing.
IT IS ORDERED.
