W.D. Ky. Standing Order — General Order 2021-04

UNITED STATES DISTRICT COURT WESTERN DISTRICT OF KENTUCKY In Re: EIGHTH SUPPLEMENTAL ORDER GENERAL ORDER CONCERNING COURT OPERATIONS NO. 21-04 RELATED TO COVID-19 *** On January 15, 2021, this Court entered General Order 21-03, continuing all jury trials and grand jury proceedings through April 2, 2021. The United States has since moved the Court to allow it to present cases to the grand jury impaneled in the Paducah Division on February 16 and 17, 2021. The Court finds that the United States has presented exceptional circumstances such that it is in the interests of justice to grant its request. The Court, therefore, ORDERS that grand jury proceedings shall be conducted on February 16 and 17, 2021 in the Paducah Division. The Clerk shall ensure that safety measures are in place, including the availability of videoconferencing between rooms within the courthouse, to maintain adequate social distancing among jurors, witnesses, and attorneys. For the reasons previously articulated in General Order 21-03, all grand jury proceedings other than those specifically addressed herein shall be continued through April 2, 2021. All provisions of General Order 21-03 that are not inconsistent with this Order shall remain in effect. DATED: January 21, 2021 ENTERED JAMES J. VILT JR., CLERK 1/21/2021 U.S. DISTRICT COURT WESTERN DISTRICT OF KENTUCKY
