AMENDED GENERAL ORDER NO. 2020-01
On May 27, 2020, the Court entered General Order No. 20-11 which, among other things,
(1) amended the terms of service for petit jury pools in the Western District of Kentucky whose
terms of service were affected by the COVID-19 pandemic, and (2) directed the Clerk to
supplement those pools by summoning additional jurors. In light of this modification to the jurors’
terms of service, coupled with the anticipated operational flexibility the Court will need in order
to expand its qualified pools of prospective jurors based on the evolving conditions related to the
COVID-19 pandemic, the Court amends General Order 20-1 as follows:
IT IS HEREBY ORDERED that the Clerk of Court draw the names of no fewer than 350
persons, having the qualifications prescribed by law to serve, as petit jurors in the Louisville
division for the following terms, unless the Clerk determines, in her discretion, that a longer term
is necessary to meet the needs of the Court:
July 13, 2020 to September 6, 2020
September 7, 2020 to November 1, 2020
November 2, 2020 to December 31, 2020
The Clerk may, in her discretion, supplement the pools of petit jurors serving the above-
listed terms by drawing the names of additional qualified jurors when doing is necessary to meet
the needs of the Court.
IT IS FURTHER ORDERED that the Clerk draw the names of no fewer than 200
persons, having the qualifications prescribed by law, to serve as petit jurors in the Bowling Green
division, no fewer than 200 persons, having the qualifications prescribed by law, to serve as petit
jurors in the Paducah division, and no fewer than 125 persons, so qualified to serve, as petit jurors
in the Owensboro division for the following terms, unless the Clerk determines, in her discretion,
that a longer term is necessary to meet the needs of the Court:
July 13, 2020 to October 4, 2020
October 5, 2020 to December 31, 2020
The Clerk may, in her discretion, supplement the pools of petit jurors serving the above-
listed terms by drawing the names of additional qualified jurors when doing is necessary to meet
the needs of the Court.
IT IS FURTHER ORDERED that the Clerk shall cause them to be served with a
summons by regular mail, unless the Court directs otherwise, to appear in the United States District
Court for the Western District of Kentucky.
