(a) Grounds. A motion to continue will be granted only if the moving party demonstrates
that:
(1) the ends of justice served by a continuance outweigh the defendant’s and the
public’s interests to a speedy trial as provided by the Speedy Trial Act; or
(2) the continuance will not violate the Speedy Trial Act’s deadlines for some other
reason.
(b) Proposed Entry Required. The moving party must submit with the motion a proposed
entry with findings about the applicable ends of justice or any other reason the
continuance will not violate the Speedy Trial Act.
