A rule granted (or rather a certificate of the Court of Queen's Bench having granted a rule) to a prisoner, permitting him to go beyond the rules, (that is, the limits) of the prison for the purpose of transacting his business. So called, because granted only for a day; the prisoner being required to return to the prison at or before nine o'clock of the evening of the day for which the rule was granted. 2 Archb. Pr. 131.
